If booking less than 24 hours before your planned session please call the shop to get on the schedule and confirm...281-508-6485
All lessons are booked in advance on your schedule. We teach 7-day a week all year round and want to make the most of your time so we always call the day before to confirm the weather is forecasted for good conditions for a productive session. If it isn't we will confirm again the day of the session or reschedule for another day. All lessons are half day sessions which are around 3 hours in length.
Here is how it works:
Private instruction is meant to either be fast paced for clients looking to get the maximum from their sessions or for clients looking for maximum coach attention. We utilize jetskis to allow more rides per session and our clients literally enjoy miles and miles of riding during each learning session. All training equipment is provided and is the best in the industry and in excellent condition usually current year gear.
First Session
Your first session will give you a solid foundation on kite maneuvers in the water and prepare you for riding the board on your second session. You can expect to be in the water session one within the first hour doing directional body drags, self rescue, simulated water starts, and landing and launch operations.
Scheduled Personal Provisioning Session #1
After your first session you have the option to schedule your own personal kiteboarding provisioning appointment in-store or virtual/phone. You can reserve this with anyone from Phil the owner, Chris the head instructor, or any of our coaches or staff. During your provisioning we will get a plan worked out for your path forward in our sport and start outfitting you with your own gear.
Session 2-3
After you get your initial setup we will start incorporating it into your next lessons so we can help you get used to it while you're learning. During session 2 and 3 you will be up on the board riding both directions, learning transitions and upwind riding.
Upwind Service
After your first few lessons you will transition to upwind service as needed or solo riding. Following your learning sessions and possible upwind sessions you're ready to ride on your own and explore all of the riding areas Houston and Galveston have to offer.
Scheduled Personal Provisioning Session #2
At this point we suggest another provisioning session to fill in the gaps of your riding arsenal and your kiteboarding experience. Solving problems and getting you on the water is what we do!
World of kiteboarding travel here you come!
At this point you are ready to travel with your gear all over the world and fully enjoy the benefits of the sport of kiteboarding. You could also stay local to enjoy the riding Houston and Galveston have to offer or starting to explore the other aspects of our sport like surf, hydrofoil, and snow. Improvement and growth in our sport never stop so on-demand coaching sessions are encouraged to work out kinks that pop up with things like board recovery, upwind riding, deep water operations, solo launching, jumping and tricks.
Things to keep in mind
Weather
Our sport relies on the weather and we don't want to waste your time which is why we schedule and follow up for all sessions. That being said, any day on the water is worth it and if there are light or high winds for one of your sessions try to make the most of it because the same will happen when you're riding with the locals in Spain, Brazil, or the Bahamas. It is best to make the most of it and learn how we deal with all conditions. Kiteboarding is a lot like life the most successful riders are resilient and carry a great attitude on their journey.
Days of the week
Weekday's are often less booked, and there are less people on the water. We teach 7-days a week so take advantage of the less crowded weekdays if possible.
Cold weather
We have wetsuits and cold weather gear available in our school all year round. If you don't have a suit or the right waterwear don't let that stop you from coming out. We will provide you with what you need while we get you outfitted with your own cold water solution. This is a good topic for the provisioning session #2.
